Quick tips to get your money right

As a Single Mom, I know you really just want to focus on your babies, live well, get a nap in here and there, and not have your financial situation be the party pooper. The fact is we still have to be sure we have enough money coming in and aren’t incurring huge debts whenever possible. There are a lot of struggles that your family will encounter along the way if you have no plan for financial success. (Ask me how I know. Okay! I can go on.) But, what follows are tried and true quick money tips for single moms like me and you to help you WIN the battle against the struggle bus and help your family thrive not just survive.

Listen, I can also tell you that there is hope. But, you have to face your fears, and you must create a home for ALL of your money. It takes patience, focus, and sacrifice to master your money. I need you to be willing to face it and hungry enough to follow through until you possess your dreams in your hand.

Quick Money Tip 1: Watch Your Debt

One of the pitfalls that will have you in a tight position is to fall so deep into debt that it would be very difficult to get out from under it. Just keeping up with the way our children are growing and fulfilling their clothing, school, and enrichment needs is enough to take you over your money limit. Unless you say no and create a money system.

When your finances are not in order, it’s nearly impossible to spend wisely since there is no clear plan on what and where the priority for spending should be. And sis, I’ve been here. I’ve been overwhelmed and flying by the seat of my pants trying to do it all and too tired to sit and focus until “you know what” hit the fan.

So, a lot of what I teach you is based on my life experiences and how I dug my way out of debt and paid off ten credit cards making 26,000 a year. I went on to make 40,000 and was balling. I know you’re frowned up like how? That’s small compared to salaries today, but in Louisiana after college, this was what I was making taking care of two kids. There is no shame in my game. I’m a witness you can do a lot on a little, and it all starts with focus and a plan.

Quick Money Tip #2 Balance Your Budget Monthly

The danger is to simply and blindly spend on everything and anything cause you’re tired, hungry, feel like it, etc. without keeping proper records or tracking your spending habits, thus causing a lot of damage to your financial credibility. This, of course, will eventually affect your family and their needs, too. I write a lot about finances on this blog. Check out this post.

I’ve been through financial hell 3 times, sis. None of the times was I out here over doing it. Life happened. My kids got sick and mama had to make it work. And because of those tough seasons, I now want to help you not to have to lose to win. Sounds good when Fantasia sings it. It hurts like heck in real life. And sometimes, we end up going through even though we tried to avoid it. But if I can help you by writing this post and sharing resources, sis I’ll do it.

You need to set aside time to balance your budget monthly if not weekly. Knowing what is coming in, what is going out, and where the money is coming from, what is due, etc. will give you so much peace and control. (I highly recommend my Single Mom Sucess Bundle which includes the monthly digital budget spreadsheet I used to do this plus 8 other LIFE-GIVING tools to get you started on the right foot.)

As I stated, I want you to thrive and not experience finncial loss or struggle. Sometimes it comes with our single mom life, but it doesn’t have to. So, take time to see what you’re working with in your financial situation. Or as the prophet said to the widow woman, “What do you have in your house.” Y’all know I love the Lord and am super big on faith which leads me to tip 3.

Quick Money Tip #3 Use Your Gifts to Make Extra Money with a Side Hustle

Heyyyy! This is one of my favorite money tips for single moms. It took me going through those losing seasons to look around and really see what I had in my hand aka how I could use my skillsets to help myself and my boys thrive. I want you to do the same. So, my first recommendation is to start with what you are naturally gifted to do. Then, I would tell you to think about what people are always asking you to do. Last, I would say what is the fastest path to the cash. Want more tips on starting a side hustle, read this.

Listen, some things you are good at but may not want to do, but folks keep asking. Could you be blocking your breakthrough? Hmmm. Side hustles are great because you don’t have to do them forever, but you should do them even when you’re comfortable, so you’ll never be broke again.

But, starting out as a new or even experienced single mom, my Single Mom Success Bundle will bless you. It’s time to take control of what you have to make room for more. Your babies deserve better, and so do you. Start small, ask for help, and implement. This is how I was able to do it. Those principles I learned back then still serve me today. Well, I hope you enjoyed these quick money tips. I can list ways to make money, but I’d rather you begin to process how you are in control. And sis, you can have everything you dream when you master your money.
