Hello fellow Overcomers! I had a week last week. Whew! Busy is not the word. In fact, the word has not been invented yet. Lol! I’m so glad I had the sense to just say no. After falling asleep as soon as I got home for a couple of days, I realized I was very much sleep deprived. Have you been there? Are you there? If so, stop, drop, and roll into bed.
I like to brag about being a single mom extraordinaire, writer, entrepreneur, etc. But, look, something’s gotta give. I and you have to stop glorifying constant busyness. There is nothing wrong with rest. In fact, as I learned last week, that when you dont find rest, it will find you. And in my case, it was as soon as I pot home which cancelled those 4 other things I was supposed to do. You know what? I’m not sorry they didn’t get done. I dont regret it because I needed it. I saw my schedule was too full and made a decision the rest of the week to say no to invites and extras so I could take care of me and home.
Let me ask you this: If you got sick, who would take care of your kids? Hmmm? Right! Take care of you and declutter that schedule!
Yeah, I know there is much to be done. Your job is to put it in order of immediate, soon, it can wait, and my personal fave “Ain’t nobody got time for that”. Haha!
You and I are on the journey. And you know what? We’re gonna make it! But, let’s take a nap first.
You: “But they need me, and I said I would help!”
Me: No one cares at this blog. Decline and get some rest.
See! Easy! Now try it!
Life can get busy and people need you. Sometimes, they can and should get someone else.
Do It Anyway!
I completely agree! I think we need to start building rest into our schedules with no exceptions. For me, Sunday is my rest day. I block out that time for church, family, friends, rest and NO WORK! #BLMGirl
Tsniqua, thank you for commenting. I agree. It is also my rest day after church. We are all so busy trying to make it, but if we rested, we’d get there faster. Rest brings clarity.

Very well said. I was a single mom for 10 years before I got remarried and you’re right, rest for YOU is the last thing on your list. But you demonstrate why it’s so important. #BLMGirls
Yes Carol it is so important as we try to save the world. I have seen how self pampering and saying NO gives me energy to keep making “the world go round”. Great comment thank you!
